Illinois Governor JB Pritzker announced $31 million in Regional Site Readiness Program grants, distributed by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO), to 24 sites across Illinois. According to Pritzker, the funding, split between planning and capital improvement grants, will support due diligence and infrastructure upgrades at industrial sites, preparing them for future investment and job creation. Pritzker emphasized the importance of site readiness for attracting businesses and fostering economic growth, while Lt. Governor Stratton highlighted the investment in communities and potential. DCEO Director Richards noted the program builds on the state’s economic momentum. Local leaders and economic development organizations praised the initiative, citing its potential to boost local economies and attract new businesses. The grants, part of Illinois’ 2024 Economic Growth Plan, require local matching funds and will support projects ranging from environmental studies to utility infrastructure improvements.
