A convicted felon from Chicago has been ordered held without bail pending trial after being charged with possessing two hand guns and leading police on a high-speed chase.
According to DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin, on September 5, 2024, Rakeem Wilton, 28, of the 4800 block of S. Calumet Avenue, was arrested early Thursday morning after an alleged high-speed chase through Hinsdale, IL. Wilton faces one felony count of armed habitual criminal, one felony count of unlawful use/possession of a weapon by a felon, and multiple misdemeanors.
Is further alleged that Wilton was driving a Jeep Patriot without headlights when a Hinsdale police officer attempted to stop him. After the high-speed chase, Wilton allegedly crashed the Jeep and was taken into custody after fleeing on foot. During the pursuit, Wilton allegedly threw a loaded .380 caliber pistol out of the car window. Officers also recovered a loaded .40 caliber pistol from the Jeep.
