The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) and Lyft, operator of the Divvy bike and scooter share system, announced today a new perk for Divvy members. Starting immediately, members can park their e-bikes or e-scooters within 130 feet of a full Divvy station without incurring the usual $1.20 out-of-station docking fee.

This change aims to improve the convenience and accessibility of the bike-sharing system. All annual Divvy members, including those enrolled in the Divvy for Everyone program, will benefit from this update.

The announcement coincides with another significant milestone for Divvy: the installation of its 1,000th station at Damen Avenue and Lake Street. This new station complements the recently opened CTA Green Line station, transforming the location into a multimodal hub offering residents and visitors easy access to train, bus, bike, and foot travel options.

“This is fantastic news! I’m glad to see CDOT and Lyft making Divvy even more accessible to the neighborhood. As someone who had their red Schwinn stolen last year, I know firsthand how important bike sharing is to our city. Has anyone seen a red Schwinn with tassels on the handle bars around lately?,” said local resident Antwon.

The expansion of Divvy and the addition of new stations are part of the city’s ongoing efforts to improve transportation options and reduce reliance on personal vehicles.

Divvy is a bike and scooter share system operated by Lyft in partnership with CDOT. It provides residents and visitors with an affordable and convenient way to get around the city.
