A 63-year-old man is dead following a hit-and-run accident in Chicago’s Roseland neighborhood on July 13th.
The victim was struck by a vehicle in the 10700 block of South Emerald Avenue around 6:00 am. According to the Chicago Police Department, the victim sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. A manhunt led to the arrest of 49-year-old Parrish Hartley later that morning. Prosecutors allege Mr. Hartley struck the victim with his car, then made a U-turn and deliberately ran him over again as he tried to flee. It is also alleged that Mr. Hartley then reportedly exited his vehicle, stood over the victim, before getting back in and driving away.
Parrish Hartley has been charged with first-degree murder, aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, and several driving offenses related to the crash.
